Jonah 1: 7-8 “then the sailors said to each other, come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity. They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah. So, they asked him to tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us……..?”

All you see these days on the news and social media is finger pointing. It’s so easy to point at a person or a party when all things go bad, but what we fail to look at Is the foundation of the problem. When I look at the story of Jonah, the sailors new that this storm they were facing was not a normal one, to them, there was a dead monkey on the line, and they needed to know who the responsible party was!  Every issue starts somewhere! In our nation, although we may not want to hear it, we must understand that our current president  isn’t the problem, our new president won’t be the problem either. The problem for all that is happening is a heart problem for America. The land of our fathers was founded on God and prayer, and the moment our government had turned its back on what made us a strong nation, this is the reason for what we are experiencing today.

In the same way, who is responsible for what is happening around your world, your personal life? Before we can go around and look elsewhere, do an inner examination of ourselves. Could it be possible that we are the problem? Our ways, our hearts, our minds? Like God was trying to catch the attention of Jonah, is it possible that he may be looking to get our attention too?

Prayer: Father God, as we are in our 10th day of fasting, please search our hearts. We take this time to repent from our own evil ways. We take this time to cry out to you for help, and healing over our government, over our leaders, over our lives. Please restore our lives, our lands and our hearts. Amen.
