John 10 :3 “the watchman opens the gate for him , and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.”

I remember when I was a kid how I would go to the store with my grandpa. But on one particular day, I decided to wander off looking at the Star Wars figures and the latest Atari games. After much time in awe of what was in front of me, I looked around and I couldn’t see my grandpa any longer. I began to walk around looking for him as fear began to take over me, but after a few minutes  I could hear his voice calling my name in the midst of the noise and voices of the others in the store. As I followed his voice, I was then able to find him, and the fear left me instantly.

Being lost isn’t a good feeling at all but being found is awesome! Today, life isn’t the way it was in the late 70’s or early 80’s. We actually have more access to things and information. Google has helped us locate things faster, while social media gives us information daily by the minute. While all these things can be helpful, they can also lead to much confusion and misinformation. What voices are you listening to today?  Jesus in the book of John reminds us that His sheep know His voice, and He calls them by name. Have you had a hard time listening to His voice lately? In the midst of the chaos that we have been going through in this last year with covid 19. The son of God is still calling our names and willing to lead us out of the many dangers in this world. Can you hear the Shepherds voice today?

Prayer: Lord, I pray that each day we may understand to distinguish your voice from the multitudes that try to distract us and lead us in the wrong directions. May we hear you clearly today and learn to make the right choices. Amen.
