Habakkuk 3:1-2 “a prayer of Habakkuk the prophet on Shigionoth. O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; o Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the yeas! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.”

Many of us have made some new years resolutions. We have looked at our past and have set some goals for this new year. The Prophet Habakkuk has an interesting desire as he is talking to the Lord, and it enlightened me on focusing a little different as I look ahead to this new year.

He prays for revival, and he knows how God once worked before, and how His people once responded. His desire is to see this again. He desires a Godly resurgence, a work and revival that only God can do and not man. This type of revival is something that begins with us crying out to God, and a plea for His reviving work. It is important that we notice Habakkuk’s  prayer. He doesn’t say “Lord revive my work again”, instead he prays “ O Lord, Revive Your Work!” This truly shocked me because it is true. I don’t want my work revived because that one failed before, but if I pray for God’s work to come back, that one accomplished what it was set out to do before, and if it comes back again, we can see a mighty move of God in our generation today! God’s work is far much bigger than my portion. Let us pray today that God’s work will be revived in this present time. Let His Glory shine once again on the earth.

Prayer: “God we desire your work in our generation to be revived in us again!  Like it did back in the days of the great revivals, let your work rise up within us and your spirit rise us up, so that we can conquer the land for your kingdom. We desire your hand and your power with great mercy in our lives to revive us. Thank you, Jesus, Amen
