“If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;” Psalm 91:9-11
We go to church hopefully every week and sing along with the worship teams catchy tunes. We shout AMEN along the motivational speeches given in the beginning. We nod in understanding as the pastor is preaching. Yet many of us, if not all, go home and continue with our days as if nothing just happened. When we receive bad news we panic, hearts racing as our brain tries to understand the situation and fails. We look around us, looking for someone, anyone to give us understanding but we leave more confused and emptier than before.
Oh, but if we dwelled in the presence of the Most High! Dwelling is living, it’s making it ours, it’s understanding where we are, why we’re there, who we’re with. If we live in God’s presence all days of our lives, understanding Whose presence we are in, keeping His word in our hearts, remembering His goodness, the psalmist says no harm will overtake us nor disaster come near our tent.
If only we understood who we are serving, our Sunday services would not be forgotten. If only we understood His word, our prayers then would be a priority. If only you understood the hedge of protection He has around you, therefore, you wouldn’t be afraid.
This year, humanly speaking, will not get any better. How do I know that? Because prophesies are being fulfilled in preparation for His return. But as you are watching the news and people around you are falling in fear on the sidelines. I remind you that God is still on your side. He protects those who make His presence their dwelling place. He commands His armies to watch over you. Our God does not sleep. Our God does not forget His promises. We can abide in the shadow of His wings safely knowing that disaster will not come near us (some translations say plague).
“Lord I think You for your word is always fulfilled. I thank you for these moments we are taking to separate ourselves for You and refocus on Your word. Help us make Your presence our dwelling place understanding that You have all the answers we need’s. Hide us under Your wings. Thank You for the hedge of protection around us. Amen.”
