Psalm 3:1-4 "Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, 'God will not deliver him. But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain."

As a kid growing up in the barrio of Chicago, I remember being in 8th grade when my teacher told me that she didn't expect much from me in my future. Her words were very hurtful to me, but instead of allowing these words to bring me down, they were the fuel I needed to prove her wrong. Whether her words were backed up through the statistics of that time, especially for a young latino male that grew up in a broken home, God had other plans.

David's enemies counted him out. They figured God will not deliver him, and that He will not have his back. Little did they know, David understood the power of prayer, and the importance of calling on the Lord.  According to David, God not only answered his prayer, but HE lifted his head up too.

That's exactly how God operates. He not only shows up, but he causes our eyes to look up and see beyond our situation. What David saw that day was enough to inspire him to write down what later would be the third chapter of the book of psalm!

My prayer for you today is that you too will look up and see beyond your current situation. Don't listen to the words that others may say to bring you down. Remember that God not only hears your prayers, but he also has your back!

Prayer: "Lord, I thank you that no matter what we go through you are able to lift up our head so we can see beyond our situations. You have a purpose in our lives that no eye has see and no ear has heard! May your divine plan continue to form in our lives, and may you be glorified in all we do. Amen!"
