““Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.””Joel 2:12 NIV

This scripture might be thousands of years old but this applies now more than ever! We’re facing much more different things than the people of Israel encountered. But God wants to remind us that no matter what place you’re in we must always return to him! One of the biggest reasons why we fast as believers is to come closer to God by rejecting and leaving those things that distract us whether it’s food, water, social media or even something as simple as TV. When we dedicate the times we would normally be eating, scrolling on our phone, or sitting on the couch to pray, read the word, and meditating with God. The Lord begins to show us more of him and how great He is! Fasting is no easy task, it takes a lot of self control and discipline. That’s why so many people sometimes don’t do it but God reminds us that EVEN NOW we must return to him no matter what day and age we must always return to the Lord.

Prayer:  Lord, we take this time to return to you, in hope for a resurgence. In hope that your Spirit will revive in us your work. We take this time to repent from all of our wicked was with hopes of receiving wisdom from you so that we can begin to make the changes needed in us. Have your way in our lives today, and we pray that we glorify you in all we do.    Amen!
