Proverbs 28:19 “He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.”
Last weekend I took on the task of clearing a closet and a room that my kids used as a playroom for 3 years. It was a job that I was hesitant to do because after three years, who knows what you will find hidden in the closet! After cleaning the closets, and throwing out bags of broken toys, I then painted the walls, and rearranged the room that will now be our own home office. Boy was I proud of the work I did too! Then after a time of me sitting down and admiring my work, my youngest son walked into the room and said, “wow dad, you really did a great job!” At this point I didn’t know if he was being sarcastic or if he really meant what he said. He then said, “you taught me something dad.” I then said, “and what was it that I taught you kiddo!” Micah replied, “that if you work hard enough you will get what you want!” Which made me smile as I hugged him and told him, “that’s right son, that’s a promise God makes to us when we work hard in all we do.”
When the wisest man in the world wrote this, it was so we could learn and use it as a life principle. Hard work does pay off! What task do you need to complete this week? Is it a room, yard work, or is it a doorknob that you have been putting on hold to do?” Whatever it is that needs to get done, get up and make it happen! When you push yourself to work hard and get the job done, it will bring a smile to your face and make you feel great with the goal accomplished. Then once you complete it, you can be one to enjoy the land or your hard labor. At the end of the day, it will be worth it all! You got this!
Prayer: Lord, help us as we face the things that need to be accomplished this week. May your Holy Spirit give us the energy and strength so that we can stand up to these tasks that have been calling our names, and may we enjoy the work of our labor! Amen!
