“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
In his last moments of his life, Joshua calls out to the children of Israel and challenges them to make a decision of loyalty and service unto God. He tells them to put away their idols and then gives them the option of continuing after the other gods if they like. He wants to make it clear to the people that he has already made his decision on what he and his family was going to do.
Declarations like this was made public, and the people responded because they too acknowledged how God was personally with them. Have you made a personal declaration for your family and home?
This type of declaration is more than just accepting the Lord as your personal savior, it is a statement that one makes for their home, and their family! Something happens when we take the stand of faith and declare over every room in our home, and vehicle we drive, that we will serve the Lord! Its putting a stamp and pleading the blood of Jesus over all things.
Remember that Christianity is not a playground, but it is a battleground. Therefore, taking a stance as Joshua did with our families is needed, and only helpful in our pursuit after God!
I challenge you to take the moment to pray over every area of your home with your family as well and declare that your place is a sanctuary of the highest God! This will not only create lasting memories in your home, but it will reinforce your declaration of who is Lord of All!
Prayer: Today Lord I take the time to pray over each room of my home, and I declare your blood over every area. I declare your anointing over my children, over my spouse, over our finances, health, community and over every door. You are Lord of All! Amen
